Checking and raising the quality of coffee is a constant concern of Cooxup\u00e9. Therefore, the structure of the cooperative counts on laboratories of Quality Control.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\tQuality control\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

With two laboratories located at the headquarters in Guaxup\u00e9 (South of Minas Gerais) and at the Monte Carmelo Core (Cerrado of Minas Gerais), the cooperative keeps 50 professionals for the classification process of the batches that the cooperative receives from its members. The coffee goes through a physical classification process – in which the color, appearance and humidity of each batch are analyzed – and sensory, with smell and taste tests to define the scale of the drink according to the standards established by the market.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\tSoil and Leaf Analysis Jo\u00e3o Carlos Pedreira de Freitas\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Created in 1982, the laboratory provides service to cooperative members and third parties evaluating soil and leaf samples. With timely analyzes, coffee growers receive from the technical assistance the best recommendations for the cultural treatments of their crops, with correct and efficient treatments, for a better sustainability of the production. In the last decade, the laboratory has received 367 thousand samples of different types and for 27 years it has obtained Concept A granted by the Brazilian Society of Soil Science for the precision with which performs its evaluations.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\tSustainability programs and certifications \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Sustainability programs and certifications<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Besides the care with quality of the coffee produced by the cooperative, Cooxup\u00e9 values and takes into account the environmental, economic and social impacts in the area of its operation. In 2015, the improvements made in the industry brought an energy saving equivalent to a consumption of 34,500 households and CO2 emissions, the reduction is equivalent to 1,850 trucks and 14 tons coming and going from Guaxup\u00e9 to Santos. Moreover, in the environmental issue, the cooperative takes care of the adequate destination of solid and liquid waste and two units, workshops and laboratories, as well as encouraging cooperative members to have a conservative spirit and environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n

In the social question, there are several actions to encourage and assist local residents. Last year, the Cooperative Demonstration Unit meetings collected more than 3.5 tons of non-perishable food that was donated to entities in the 16 municipalities where it was taking place.<\/p>\n

In addition to these actions, the Cooperative keeps a core of environmental education, used by the school networks of the region of the action area of Cooxup\u00e9, where students come into contact with environmental recovery. With this initiative, we will have, in the future, citizens committed to environmental recovery. The children encourage their parents to participate in the programs proposed by Cooxup\u00e9 together with their clients. The core also has a seedling nursery of Atlantic forest trees that are provided free of charge to the cooperative members and producers.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
